The PERFECT Fitness Equipment for Me Working Out at Home
82
The long list of good intentions
Like you, I've made all the efforts and resolutions to get healthier and stay fit. Through the years I've read the books, brought home the DVD's and even purchased the latest gadgets that promise to make it all work like magic. And like you, I eventually woke up and faced the reality of it all.
If there's any magic involved, it's coming to terms with the basic, simple facts that have been around since the very beginning. It's true and we know it. There is no pill or drink or package that contains the secret to a trimmer, stronger, better YOU. No one-size-fits-all and absolutely no mystical patch that transforms us as we SLEEP!
Over and over we've heard the drill. Eat healthy, drink water, breath deep and stay active. This sounds simple because truthfully, it is. What takes a bit of brain power and time, is sorting through all the information, suggestions and directions, to find that precise formula, that perfect program that fits into your lifestyle & schedule. There's a routine that's just right for each one of us and no better person to figure it out for ourselves but us.
Personal preference & need
I've tried out several different pieces of exercize equipment, from a treadmill to recumbent bike and stepper to ab-rocker. Sure, they've all worked out well for a period of time and MAYBE even produced results for me. Eventually however, I'd find a reason to drag it into the attic or sell it in a yard sale. Since I'm not of the mind-set for fitness clubs or Zumba Groups, I'd resort to walking when the weather was nice or doing stretches on the floor.
I found "IT!"
I should mention at this point, I'm a Grandma now and reluctantly admit, some of those comments we heard from this age group when we were younger aren't so funny anymore. Metabolism does slow down, we're not as limber nor as quick & a bit of our spring has sprung. My joints sometimes speak to me and I'll be darned if I don't grunt now and then, just like my mother used to!
Thumbing through a magazine, I found an article for "Fitness Over 60," and I read every word . There was a picture of a "Cardio Strider," which I thought was an interesting looking piece of equipment.....a little different than anything I'd ever seen or tried before. The marketing was masterful enough to grab my attention and in fact, I was sold on this Strider. I bought it.
Once my new incentive was in my home, sitting neatly in the corner, facing my plasma TV, I took my place on the comfy seat and flipped through the pages of the manual. "What a beauty," I thought to myself, as I programmed the little computer read-out to light up on the screen. It keeps track of everything! I could control the tension on my arms and legs, keep tabs on my heart rate, minutes & miles traveled and even calories burned. Best of all, it's whisper quiet. I can treat myself to this wonderful physical activity and listen to every word Matt Lauer is saying to me.
I can't stop Striding!
I'm amazed at how excited I am with having found the perfect program for me after all my searching and try-outs. This gadget is my favorite toy and it's GOOD for me! I've had it nearly 4 months and the benefits I've achieved are such a pleasant surprise to me. No longer must I believe in "No pain, no gain." That's just not true with my new-found steel pony.
I'm showing it off as if it's a new luxury car. My friends are in the house 5 minutes and I'm leading them into the living room to meet my new fitness partner. Of course the first thing anyone does is hop on and give it a try. They're all duly impressed. After using it for 30 days, I wrote to INSPIRE. Their headquaters for this high-end fitness equipment is in California and I found their website online and sent them off my praises. I even received a friendly reply and a Thank you from one of their reps. I suggested to him that I get some kind of profit for the word-of-mouth advertising, but I think that went over like a lead balloon.........That's fine with me since I'm getting rewards on a weekly basis!
I wanted to share my discovery with all of you. When I find something I really like and know others might want to hear about, I spread the news.
Success with YOUR program
Your Comfort Zone
Whatever you choose in a health and fitness program, make it suit your personal needs and comforts. Needless to say, the more pleasure you get from maintaining a healthy routine, the easier it is to want to stay with it......and that is an important part of the big picture.
Keep moving........Keep smiling!

Congrats fpherj48 on finding something that is good for you and you are enjoying so much....I will be showing this hub to my wife...who has been looking for a new exercise device for the house....and the Cardio Strider could be something she would like as well...thanks for sharing your experience on the Cardio Strider...voted up and interesting and useful.
Great hub. I've been there, done that ~ i.e., practically giving away a $500 piece of equipment at a yard sale. I think I made more money on the clothes that were hanging on it. Glad you found something that works for you. Your writing is entertaining no matter what the subject.

yup, I agree with you paula.
no pain then no gain. I have a stationary bike whose arms go back and forth and I kinda get the complete body workout.
you inspired me to get on to it. I admit, It's been a while since i got on to it.
Thanks for this motivational hub. voted up as awesome and sharing it across!
That sounds like my kind of machine... once in a sleep deprived state I ordered the total gym. I like it, although I didn't stick with it regularly to see if it gave results. One of the main reasons, it took up too much room and with kids it was dangerous to just keep out in the main area. It was also ugly. However, it does have a lifetime warranty so it will be in prime condition for the rest of my life. That being said - I should go dust it off! :)
I like that. I have a treadmill and use it when the days are yucky and I can't get to the park. I've been walking at the park because it gets me out of the house since my work is here at home and I don't get out much. Speaking of that I need to go walk right now!

It's always nice to find a useful piece of exercise equipment that's actually used for the purpose it was intended for an not just a dust collector! I'm very excited for you...I hope your machine doesn't end up at your next yard sale! This is an outstanding hub...I'm impressed!! I miss the days of being able to spring up, my knees have taking a licking from lunges, squats and push-ups BUT I just keep on doing them! Go granny! :)
